Magnetic marble run

Track pieces and goal are made of foam 2 cm. wide. Each has one side that is magnetized allowing pieces to be arranged on any vertical steel surface such as a refrigerator door or magnetic whiteboard. Opposite side is printed in a variety of colorful patterns and has a clear plastic extension to keep the marble from falling off to the side. Track pieces are in 2 lengths of ca. 25 cm. and ca. 14 cm. and are straight, wavy, or curved; one piece is round with 6 cm. diameter and no plastic extension; goal piece is only 10 cm. long and twice as wide as other pieces with a cutout in the middle into which the marble lands. Activity cards show 10 possible designs with brief instructions; 7 of them also contain an extra challenge.

Guide includes component list, notes on using the pieces, and suggestions for incorporating STEM lessons while playing with the pieces, all in English, Spanish, French, and German.

Players arrange track pieces on a vertical surface such that a marble set at the top rolls along and drops down between the various track pieces to land in the goal. Players can adjust designs to make the marbles speed up slow down, stop, or change direction. Two-player option allows each player half of the track pieces but each must end at the single goal; players compete with designs for the fastest or the slowest time. Designed to develop problem-solving and engineering skills while having fun.
